Introduction: Calvary greetings from our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ Amen. We have gradually come to the end of the second term of 2020/2021 Academic session. We thank God for bringing all of us thus far and we wish to sincerely thank you all for your support and understanding throughout the term. Your labours of love must not be in vain – God will surely reward you.
Academics: Academic work took off on the first day of resumption. Teaching and learning is still on top gear. We have been so painstaking and meticulous in the actualization of the curriculum for the school. Our teachers have been closely monitored and supervised. The children’s works are checked to ensure they are reflecting the scheme of work and these have helped improve the children’s performance. The children were also exposed to serious writing to help solidify what was taught in the class.
Extra-Curricular Activities: Cultural day was observed this term cutting across all the classes in the Nursery school showcasing the three major tribes in Nigeria vis a viz their languages, dressing, food, mode of greeting, dancing steps, songs etc.
It was a fun-filled event, for all the children were excited all through the day. We wish to thank the school for giving us this great opportunity as well as providing entertainment for both the staff and children. We also thank our parents for their support and encouragement in providing suitable costumes for the children which made the programme colourful.
Nursery one particularly were engaged in practical Agriculture – clearing of the farm land, planting of maize, watering and weeding – To the glory of God, our plants are doing well.
Examination: Second term Examination was smooth and precise. The children were properly examined based on the scheme of work. The results have been released and their performance is positively on the high side.

We thank God for His sufficient grace all through the term. A tree they said cannot make a forest, we sincerely appreciate all your daily supports to the school to see that our children get the best academically and spiritually. May God bless you immensely. Amen!!
The school resumed for the term on 1st March 2021 after a very short break and academics activities ran smoothly with the 21st Century Teaching and learning methods still in place.
Extra-classes were organized for all the special children across all streams especially in English studies to ensure that we carry everyone along. Please note that no additional payment was made in this regard.
The section’s internal supervisors ensured that lessons were properly taught and all the necessary materials that were needed to make learning interesting were in use. Most of our children co-operated with the teachers by completing their notes, doing their classwork and homework as at when due.
We sincerely appreciate all the parents that follow up their children’s academic works and we also appeal to some who hardly go through their children’s assignments to please assist the teachers by ensuring that they supervise their work at home. This can be done easily by checking the communication booklet on daily basis.
The term was concluded with an examination written from 4th May – 10TH May 2021 and the evaluation report for this term is enclosed in the envelope. Please the office will be open for further enquires on your child’s academic progress, feel free to come.
It is with great joy that we announce to you that most of the children did well in their external examination especially entrance examination to Secondary schools that they wrote, some had already been offered scholarship because of their outstanding performances and we give God all the honour.
Some competitions which was put on hold due to COVID-19 outbreak are now in progress. Two hundred and seventy-eight pupils from schools in Enugu sat for the first stage of MATHEMATICAL ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA Examination (Primary category). Eighteen pupils made it to the 2nd stage and six of our pupils made it to the top. Preparations are still in progress for other competitions, we believe that God who has started with this great result, will see them to the finals and to the top in due time.
Saturday lesson will not hold next term (3rd Term). We therefore urge you all to please help our children the best way you can as the school will also do her part. Be reminded that teachers are not still permitted to conduct personal lessons with the pupils. Do not entice them with your offers as defaulters will not be spared.
The school has embedded some developmental skills in her curriculum that will harness the pupils’ reasoning, hence we are delighted to inform you that much were covered this term. The pupils in Year One and Year Two had their cultural day, Year three and Year Four had their vocational Day while Year Five and Year Six had their literary week.
Some resource personnel from Keystone Bank held a seminar with some of our pupils from Year Three - Year Six on the 25th day of March 2021 to mark their Banking Week. Our projects for the term were successfully carried out and we concluded with the Project Defence across all classes on 11th and 14th May 2021.
The school management and some of our parents were around to witness these dynamic events although we would have loved to have all of you; our amiable parents around for the programs, but we also needed to take some COVID-19 safety precautions. Please bear with us. You can still view most of these activities in the school portal. (www.springoflifeinternationalschools.org). We sincerely want to use this medium to appreciate you for the support you gave your children to ensure that they were actively involved in all the activities despite the economic status of the country. May your pockets never run dry. Amen!
We also wish to inform you that apart from the term’s project and defence that will still hold next term. Our Valedictory (for Year Six pupils) and Prize Giving Day, will be coming up too, being the 3rd term (promotional term). Please ensure that your children are properly guided and encouraged to put in their best, as we look forward that they will be among the recipients of the numerous awards that will be given out on that day.
SAFETY AND SECURITY:
The school has been running with the COVID-I9 protocols still in place. We thank God that the school has not recorded any case of the pandemic so far. To God be the glory. We will not wave the fact that the pandemic is still in existence, thus the school still made available all the required materials to ensure our pupils safety.
The school nurses and other school COVID-19 trained personnel were actively involved in the activities of the term. They made sure the pupils were properly guided although it was observed that some children came to school neither with their face shield nor face mask. Please be reminded that from next term no child will be permitted to enter the class without the mask or shield. We encourage you to also maintain proper hygiene and all the COVID-19 protocols both at home and in public places.
We encourage you to also please have a good interpersonal-relationship with the teachers and always censor the information your child brings home especially when they are not well stated, if possible make out time to hear from the teacher or write an official report to the school authority when not given adequate response by the teacher before putting laws into your hands. This will help us serve you better.
We thank all the Praying Mums in SOLIS. Thanks for your presence during the last fellowship. Our next meeting will be on 12th of June, 2021. We looking forward to seeing you.
Be reminded that our school hours remain the same thus;
7:30am-1:30pm Year ONE- Year Three
8:00am -2:00pm Year Four-Year Six.
Please always ensure that your children are in school before 8:00am, as the school gate will be closed by 8:15am and don’t forget to pick them on time after school, as failure to do so will attract some fines.
We acknowledge all our parents that come to school decently dressed and have been obeying the traffic guidelines especially during the rush hours. We make a plea to those who are yet to comply as they are being instructed by the school traffic wardens to please do so. Let us also learn to be tolerant with one another, avoid fighting or use of abusive words on anyone whenever you come for school runs. We don’t want any negative influence directly or indirectly on our children.
PAYMENT OF SCHOOL FEES:
We thank all parents who paid their children fees promptly. May God bless you. We have enclosed along with the Newsletter, your child’s school fees teller for next term. We pray that God will make all the provision you need to meet up with this financial obligation. Your efforts on the children will be rewarded.
The 3rd term for 2020/2021 Academic Year starts on Wednesday, 2nd June 2021, pupils are all expected to resume on that same day, lessons start on the same day of resumption. Please do not deprive your children the opportunity to start with others by keeping them at home.
The form for admission into JSS1 for the 202I/2022 Academic Year and other classes is on sale. Meet the Front Desk officers for it and please inform your friends and relatives.
We give God all the glory for His goodness and mercy upon SOLIS community. Our God has been awesome in all His ways.
We also appreciate you for your loyalty and commitment to the course of the school.
In spite the disruptions during the lock-down of Covid-19, the school is ensuring that her standard is maintained. The teachers have continued assiduously to do their work. Necessary measures were applied by the management to improve teaching and learning conditions. No stones were left unturned to ensure quality academic standard. The population of the teaching staff has tremendously increased to accommodate the student’s population. The facilities are upgraded to meet up with the 21st century requirement.
Teaching and learning has continued unabated. With good learning environment in the school, the students are being exposed to different methodologies suitable for them. And the result is quite encouraging.
EXTERNAL EXAMINATION REGISTRATION:
The school has registered her children in external exams for 2021. We use this medium to advise our parents whose children are in these classes to encourage them to study very hard for these exams for optimal performance. We have adequately prepared them; revisions are still going on. With your prayers, we are trusting and believing God for a good outing this year.
The school just concluded her 2nd term examination. It was quite a challenging term, but God helped us. The result you have just collected is a representation of your child’s academic abilities. We encourage you to go through it, in view of detecting his/her academic challenges, so that, we work on him/her next term.
Due to the Covid-19 sanctions, the schools’ clubs and society meeting were put on hold. We could not engage the children in much activities. Also, we needed to cover lost grounds so that next session would be smoother. However, we were able to organize Debating competition among the classes of JS1 – SS2. It was quite interesting as the children were exposed on public speaking and other etiquette. At the end of the day, the SS 1 students emerged the best.
We also use this medium to encourage parents to partner with us in the moral, spiritual and academic life of the children. The school uniform some of the children wear are either torn, undersized or poorly shaped. This is a very serious issue. We enjoin you, please replace these uniforms and ensure that your child looks neat before he /she leaves the house.
Also, monitor when your child leaves the house for school and when he gets home. It has been observed that some students go home late. Help us to stop this anomaly.
It is worthwhile to intimate you about some outings made this term. Due to the corona virus, competition for Secondary Schools have been limited. However, we participated in a few this term. The first is an International competition captioned “Know your World” organized by the British council. We emerged the best, and would represent our country Nigeria. We are waiting for the next stage. Also the first stage of (M.A.N) Mathematics Association of Nigeria competition has kicked off. Our school participated, ten of the students qualified for the next stage at the Senior Secondary level, and six at the Junior Secondary level. We also presented candidates for the Royal National Mathematics Challenge - all the eleven students that participated in the Senior category qualified for the 2nd round while eight out of ten that participated in the Junior category succeeded. We Are trusting God that this year, the Lord will make a name for Himself at the National level. There are still some others we are preparing for of which we will communicate you in due season.
Our forms are still on sale for JSS1 students 2021/2022 Academic session. Be our mouth piece and inform your families and friends about us. God bless you.
RE-OPENING DATE: The 3rd term for 2020/2021 Academic Year starts on Wednesday, 2nd June 2021, pupils are all expected to resume on that same day, lessons start on the same day of resumption. Please do not deprive your children the opportunity to start with others by keeping them at home.
SCHOOL FEES PAYMENT:
We really do appreciate those who have consistently been faithful in paying their school fees in this austere times and use this opportunity to call on those who are still owing to please help us to serve you better. We are truly praying for you and trusting God to “Open Heaven” for you in Jesus name Amen.
In conclusion, we appreciate you for the confidence you repose on us, by the grace of God there will be no regrets.
We sincerely appreciate God for the grace, strength and help that He has been giving us since school resumed after the lockdown. From the bottom of our hearts, we appreciate your support, encouragement and sacrifices that we have experienced. We also appreciate the criticisms which are all aimed to make us better. God bless you immensely.
Since our goal is to satisfy you and prove that we care, we have been reviewing our academic activities to see how we can make it better. As a result of this, we have come up with some changes in the current system that we are using.
When schools resume, after the curfew imposed in the state due to the ENDSARS protest has been lifted, the school will revert to the old system of 5-days teaching for all Primary and Secondary Schools, no longer 3-days. As a result of this, there won’t be Saturday School again and online classes have been suspended. However, the arrival and departure times will still be staggered and it will be as follows:
ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE PERIODS
Monday to Friday
Year 1 – 3
Year 4 - 5
Monday to Friday
JSS 1 - 2
SS 1 - 2
Please, kindly take note of the arrival and departure time of your child and adhere to it. We sincerely appreciate our parents who come on time to pick their children from school and use this medium to appeal to those who do not come on time to please do so. We can only succeed when we all cooperate with one another.
Once again, we sincerely appreciate you all and we pray that our labour over our children will not be in vain. God bless you all.
We appreciate the Almighty God who made it possible for Primary and Secondary Sections to resume academic activities after the lockdown on 28th September, 2020. We sincerely appreciate you also, our highly esteemed parents, for your encouragement, support and sacrifices. God bless you all in Jesus name.
We appreciate those of you who have gotten across to us concerning some issues of concern particularly about discount for third term fees. We realized that our mails did not get to some and others did not read the ones we sent. For the first group, we apologize. We have tried different means to ensure that our mails get to our parents. Recently, we have opened Telegram channels for the different sections. The link has been forwarded and we will yet forward again.
Last month before resumption, we met with the different sections after which we sent our preparedness to run safe school and our expectations from you. In that mail, we informed you of a 12% discount across board. We also explained that this will be applied as we open next term as we had written all tellers before lockdown, which took us more than a week to write the cost notwithstanding, which we felt would be a waste of money and effort since the tellers are paid for.
We expected that you would have waited to see if we would do as we promised. We want to appeal to every aggrieved party to wait, we will fulfil our promise. If however anyone is experiencing difficulty in paying the fees, we have always been there to help. Those close to us know that we don’t give deaf ears to the needs of our parents. You are our pride. We are here to help as God gives us grace.
After test-running the new system for two weeks, we have decided to make the following adjustments in our arrival and departure schedules for make school run easier:
ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE PERIODS
Monday to Wednesday
Year 1 – 2
Thursday to Friday
Monday to Wednesday
Thursday to Friday
We sincerely apologize for not starting the online classes for Primary and Secondary sections on Monday 5th October, 2020 as we earlier promised. It was due to circumstances beyond our control. We are truly sorry. The classes had started officially on Friday 9th October, 2020. The timetables are available on our website. Kindly log in for the online classes through the THIRD TERM SECTION of your child’s class (for example: JSS 1-2 THIRD TERM) and not the holiday section.
As mentioned earlier, the school has created a Telegram channel for parents of the various sections to further help in dissemination of information. Download the Telegram app and use the following link to connect to the sections for your child:
REPORT OF THE MEETING OF THE SCHOOL MANAGEMENT WITH THE PARENTS OF THE NURSERY SECTION.
Highly Esteemed Parents,
On Monday 5th October, 2020, the school management had a meeting with the parents of the Nursery Section concerning how to handle their children since they have not yet been allowed to resume normal academic activities. In the meeting, the school management proposed an online class for them: Pre-K to Nursery 2 which will be more effective than the one done during the lockdown period. The following strategies have been put in place to that effect:
1. New subjects have been added. During the lockdown, the children only did three subjects but now they are going to do nine subjects. This is to ensure that the children are educated wholistically.
2. A NEW LEARNING ENVIRONMENT: Time was taken to prepare a well decorated class for the children so as to create a real classroom environment. We won’t be working with the teacher and board alone.
3. Using clear pictures as learning tools: Clear pictures and beautiful catchy illustrations will be used instead of cardboard sheets for illustrations.
4. Introduction of more learning tools and other materials that supports learning.
5. Illustrative videos, with step by step processes for learning writing and mathematics.
6. Precise and easy to understand videos to maintain concentration of the children
7. Introduction of rhymes that are in line with the topics taught to maintain a well-structured learning. The rhymes will also be evaluated alongside the lesson.
8. All activities will be evaluated and specific feedback for each child will be available.
9. Follow up on the progress of the child by a class teacher.
Consequent upon this, we proposed either 15000 Naira per month or 25000 Naira for the whole period which will last from now to first week in December if the Nursery section has not resumed by then. After our discussion, many agreed to the one off payment of 25000 Naira. However, in the Spirit of post COVID palliative, we have decided on a flat rate of 20000 Naira with a reduction of 5000 per child.
Concerning the Pre - K class, though some parents complained that their children were not paying attention during the last time we ran online classes, we have decided to include them in the classes to start now because some parents indicated their interest. It is not compulsory for them(Pre-K). It is only for those who are interested.
Classes will begin on Monday, 12th October, 2020 and every child will have access for the first two weeks after which those who have not paid will be denied access. Bank detail for payment is as follows:
Name of Bank: Keystone Bank
Account Name: Spring of Life and fountain of wisdom and excellence
Account number: 1007252690
The school has created a Telegram channel for parents of the various sections to further help in dissemination of information. Download the Telegram app and use the following link to connect to the sections for your child:
We use this medium to inform you about the change in the arrival time for JSS 2 and SS 2 students. Instead of arriving by 8.30am, they are expected to be in school by 8am but will still close by the normal 2.30pm
Thanking you for your understanding and encouragement.
